Weight management is an issue that most of us are grappling with.
As per government of India stats India is the 3rd most obese country in the world!
Ironic as it may sound, I graduated from trying to put on weight (since I have been skinny all my life) to trying to reduce the inches off my baby belly post delivery.
I am not a diet person so I have never been able to reduce my meal portions or stay away from the tempting (read fattening) desserts.
So, I have been religiously following a few habits like snacking on fruits or nuts instead of binging on chaat in the evening, taking the stairs whenever possible, walking to and from our office instead of driving (the distance is barely 3 kms).
One other thing i use regularly is Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. It is an amazing potion that helps me lose weight easily and consistently.
It is important to note here that Apple Cider Vinegar which is raw, unfiltered and with mother helps lose weight not the the clear synthetic ones.
So i would strongly recommend you use Raw Apple Cider Vinegar instead of the clear synthetic versions available in your supermarkets.
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is now readily available at most Health Food and online food stores in India.
Studies have shown that consuming raw apple cider vinegar before a meal makes you feel fuller faster and thus you will eat lesser.
The reason behind it could be due to the presence of pectins in apples.
Another possible explanation could be that acetic acid present in the vinegar delays gastric emptying ie the rate at which food passes from the stomach and into the duodenum and small intestine.
This not only makes you feel full for a longer time but also leads to lower blood sugar.
Apple cider vinegar helps to flush out the toxins in the body by being naturally high in fiber and improving bowel movements.
This in turn helps all the processes (including digestion and metabolism) to become more efficient.
Insulin is responsible for the cells to take up glucose from the blood for energy and the excess glucose is stored as fat.
Apple cider vinegar inactivates some carbohydrate digesting enzymes and thus the absorption of glucose by the body gets delayed. This in turn keeps the levels of blood sugar and insulin stable over a longer period of time.
The presence of Acetic acid in apple cider vinegar inhibits the body’s ability to store fat while boosting its ability to burn it.
The most commonly used and best way to use apple cider vinegar is to dilute 2 tsp of it in a glass of water and drinking it at least twice a day (first thing in the morning in empty stomach and after dinner at night).
Combining the goodness of green tea, honey and apple cider vinegar creates a mixture that can help to manage your weight while suppressing your appetite as well.
Ingredients: 1 cup green tea, 1 Tbsp. ACV, Honey to taste
Method: Prepare 1 cup of freshly brewed green tea with honey. Wait for the green tea and honey mixture to cool down before adding the ACV.
Lemon is known to improve digestion while cinnamon discourages fat storage by suppressing blood glucose spikes. When combined with apple cider vinegar, they make a great weight loss solution.
Ingredients : 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, 1/2 lemon
Method: Mix the above into a glass of water and drink it before meals.
Ingredients : 5 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 5 Tbsp ACV, 1 tsp honey, juice from 1 lemon, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper.
Method: Mix the above ingredients and toss it with the salad of your choice.
